Nation Unites in Humanitarian Effort: Blood Donation Drive Supports Emergency Preparedness Amid Border Tensions

Phnom Penh: Under the bright morning sun, the Koh Pich Exhibition Center buzzed with activity as volunteers gathered for the Humanitarian Blood Donation event on July 25, 2025. Led by Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many, who served as a high representative of Dr. Pich Chanmony Hunmanet, Vice-Chairwoman of the Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctors Association (TYDA), the event aimed to bolster the nation’s medical preparedness during a challenging time.

Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many emphasized the significance of the initiative, which had two key objectives: first, to provide critical blood supplies for hospitals treating injured patients, and second, to reinforce readiness for emergencies stemming from ongoing border tensions with Thailand. The current conflict had increased the urgent need for blood to support both civilians and soldiers on the front lines in provinces like Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear.

Throughout the day, the center was filled with the determined spirit of community. Students from the Association of Samdech Techo Scholarship (AMT), members of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), and everyday citizens came together, their sleeves rolled up, eager to contribute. As they donated blood, they understood that their act could save lives—whether in hospitals or on the battlefield.

From early morning until late afternoon, the event exemplified unity and resilience. Each donation was a symbol of hope, strengthening Cambodia’s capacity to respond to emergencies and to support those affected by the ongoing conflict. Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many spoke of the importance of such collective efforts, stressing that every drop of blood donated was a vital step toward saving lives and ensuring national readiness.

As the day closed, the spirit of compassion held strong. The event served as a powerful reminder that in times of crisis, solidarity and community action remain Cambodia’s greatest strengths—embodying the nation’s enduring commitment to life and humanity even amidst adversity.
